Zakynthos - a geographical gem of distinction and uniqueness

Greece is a very popular country internationally, mostly because of the islands and the really propitious weather. Zakynthos is a Greek island that thousands of people visit every year. That ship’s wreckage decorates the beach until today. Zakynthos is a purely natural island and there are many other beautiful beaches, like Lagana, Tsilivi, Arghasi, Calamaki and Alikaes, which magnetize tourists from the world that prefer to visit it again and again.

The island’s economy was based on the export of special goods, like virgin olive oil, raisins and wine and their currency was the Venetian Lira. What attracted the Venetians of those days and the tourists nowadays is the dazzling and idyllic scenery, with the rocky mountains, with the huge lands with pines, the diamond-clear sea, the green flatlands, and the enormous caves. In the island is also located the National Sea Park, since the island is the last anchorage left for the Kareta-Kareta turtle and the Mesogeian seal Monachus-Monachus.
