Tyrol – A summit experience for enjoying art!

Young contemporary and modern art created by national and international artists: How does that fit together with huge glaciers, spectacular peaks, narrow valleys and an almost incomprehensible, fascinating mountain landscape? In an unexpected and impressive way, Tyrol provides evidence of how the two can be combined radically and conventionally, abstractly and plastically into a harmonious synthesis of art!
Located between Germany, Switzerland and Italy, between the Zugspitze in the north and the Wildspitze in the south, the Arlberg in the west and Kitzbühel in the far east, there is a part of Austria that is particularly distinctive in terms of landscape and arts.
On the one hand, artistic ambitions in this region are directed towards winter landscapes and winter sports motifs as a template for the creation of watercolor and tempera pictures. The deep connection between experience of nature and spirituality can be seen in the representation of people in snow-capped mountains under blue skies and in cozy mountain villages. In a diverse and a unique way, humans are set into relation to the mountain, nature, society and the conditions resulting thereof. Starting from nature and in close connection with nature, understanding nature as a whole, in its growth and decay, trying to understand and display the spiritual in nature, is the goal of an art scene that is often between expressive and meditatively abstract.

The Tyrolian art scene

In Tyrol, however, there is also space for artistic experiments that can take many forms. Be it painting, sculptures, graphics, prints, photographs or internet art… everything is possible, nothing has to happen. There is a free space in which common ideas can be found.
Thus, deep valleys turn into mountain peaks with breathtaking views, torments of heat turn into glacier freshness, gray suburbs turn into cozy mountain pastures at the foot of untouched snowy landscapes under blue skies – and Tyrol? It turns into a summit of experience for enjoying art!
