What is unique about this region?

Berlin is internationally mostly known because it used to have a Great Wall that divided the city in two parts during the Cold War.
After the fall of the Iron curtain in 1989, the city began to transform itself into a real metropolis.
Use infrastructural projects took and still take place and compared to early eighties the city has drastically changed.
Berlin has it all, from the traditional parts like Kreuzberg and Wedding and Tiergarten to the postmodern architectural sins and contemporary pearls.
Berlin can be characterized without doubt as very diverse city. Beside being the Capital of Germany, Berlin is underground and impulsive. One might party 24h a day with the latest DJs in old industrial buildings.

The Berlin Art Scene

A former mayor of Berlin once said “Berlin is poor but sexy”- this matter of fact speaks a lot for itself and inspires its inhabitants to find creative ways for daily challenges.
This applies not only for the art scene, but moreover as well for the startup scene: many investors, venture capital companies and incubators are watching out for the latest new business kids on the block to become the next unicorn.

In terms of art museums there is the full blown spectrum available: an entire island named the “Museumsinsel” is located in the heart of Berlin. Five museums in total have their residence there and their collections are marvelous.
Around April the long night of the art galleries takes place which is a wonderful happening, not only to explore the art scene but also the entire city by night.
